Princetonís legislative body is made of a mayor and six alderpersons each elected for a two-year term. The mayor and three alderpersons are elected in April of even numbered years; while the other three alderpersons are elected in April of odd numbered years. The city is divided into four wards with wards one and two combined to share the two representatives.
Responsible for overall city operations. Key staff members include the City Administrator.
Public Safety
Responsible for all safety and emergency activities in the City. Key staff members inlcude the Chief of Police and the Director of Emergency Medical Services.
Public Works / Utilities
Responsible for the major infrastructure and utilities of the City. Key staff members include the Director of Public Works and the Utility Clerk.
During what hours is City Hall open?
Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, except for Federal holidays and weather emergencies.
Where do I go to vote?
The City of Princeton is divided into four wards. All four wards use the same polling place - located at 431 West Main Street - in the Council Chambers behind the Fire Station. Polls are open from 7:00am to 8:00pm on election days.
Where do I apply for a dog or cat license?
Dog and cat licenses are handled by City Hall. License fees are $5.00 for animals spayed or nuetered and $10.00 for animals not spayed or nuetered. Licenses are required each year by April 1st. In addition to the fee, owners are required to provide proof of rabies vaccination.
When are Council meetings?
The Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers. The Council Chambers is located at 431 West Main Street in the back room of the fire station. When is Garbage/Recycling picked up?
Recycling services are provided by Veolia Advanced Disposal. Garbage collection is every week and recycling is every other week, except on a designated Holiday.
